ATM - This is very interesting - putting yourself in relation to historic events and persons. I miss the interest in space travel and invention. Now that we are in the Dark Ages. Yes it is, some of them I remember vividly (especially watching the moon landing on a black & white TV in Kindergarden, from that day on I wanted to be an astronaut - still do haha). Some events are vague, like WACO, because I was more concerned about my social status to care (very good lookin' and smart but plumb ignorant at the time). Now I wish I had realized the implications as to what was really going on - I was really living in a dreamworld.

Back then the (TRUE) performing artists possessed genuine talent. BTW, (even though he isn't listed) have ya'll ever went to a Jimi Hendrix performance? That's something I wish I could have experienced, always thought I was born too late.

Missed Hendrix at Madison Square Garden, but I was in the Village when he was still performing at the Cafe Wha?, and heard him from outside. I think there are still musicians that keep the flame alive from back then. Like the 60's, we are seeing musicians and people from different styles coming together with a common cause, and it still is Peace. We saw all the bands you could think of at the Fillmore East, from 1967 to 1974 or thereabouts. The most exciting was the USA debut in 1971 of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer at the Fillmore. I had never seen musicians play so ferosiously and with such passion. I mean, being a keyboard player, and seeing Emerson playing TWO organs at once, I went back to the drawing board, and developed myself over the years. We saw Led Zeppelin open for Iron Butterfly in 1968, and that was a great show. I actually liked Butterfly better, but it was the first night Zeppelin played in the USA, and they too brought the house down. There wa The Doors and Jefferson Airplane in 67 and 68. Mitch Ryder and Spencer Davis in 1966. We must draw from those times, and the positive influences. When people say "Stop living in the past", I look at Thetaloops and I embracing Techno, Hip Hop, Ambient, Sound Collage, and other modern forms of music, and the same people who think that Peace and Love are archaic, are actually following Nixon's creed from the 60's. So if we have a choice of who to be influenced by.....Dick Nixon or Tim Leary, or Toby Keith or The Beatles, you know who we think like more. This song is Noble Gas with the keyboardist from Bill Haley and The Comets and the guitarist played with Creed Taylor Orchestra and Tiny Tim! It's called"Out of Limits" originally by The Marketts from 1964. The song actually knocked The Beatles out of first place for two weeks in January 64. www.noble-gas.com/ool.mp3

I sure wish that I could have gone to the Fillmore East and many of the concerts that were going on all over the place back then. My parents were very afraid of letting my sister and I go to them. Now, we'll just have to listen and watch the milestones that they have left, be influenced by them, seek out the current jems and then create our own. Maybe out of the chaos of what is going on, there will be a Phoenix of enlightenment and a new movement will surface.

I feel your pain, my parents (mainly my dad) wouldn't let me go to any concerts either. It wasn't until after I was eighteen that it was allowed, but by then, I was working and supporting myself so I didn't have the money or the time. HaHa sweet irony. Love that picture!
