Former Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta answered questions from members of 9/11 Truth Seattle.org about his testimony before the 9/11 Commission report.

Mineta says Vice President Cheney was "absolutely" already there when he arrived at approximately 9:25 a.m. in the PEOC (Presidential Emergency Operations Center) bunker on the morning of 9/11. Mineta seemed shocked to learn that the 9/11 Commission Report claimed Cheney had not arrived there until 9:58-- after the Pentagon had been hit, a report that Mineta definitively contradicted.

Norman Mineta revealed that Lynn Cheney was also in the PEOC bunker already at the time of his arrival, along with a number of other staff.

So how can anyone honestly be satisfied with the deliberately flawed conclusions reached by the 9/11 Commission when they can make one unsubstantiated claim and the man that was actually there in person makes another? Not only did the Commission omit Mineta’s testimony that was suggestive of a stand down order altogether, they clearly altered timelines to make it appear that Cheney wasn’t even in the bunker when he really was. This obviously helped them to avoid dealing with the explosive subject matter which would’ve raised many problems and troubling questions for Cheney and his behavior. How perfectly convenient as always. They also claimed that the military wasn’t aware of the plane (or whatever it was) approaching the Pentagon until a few minutes before it struck essentially disallowing them from properly reacting and taking the necessary preventative measures. This new information however throws that assertion in to serious jeopardy as well.

It seemed that in every point of this sham “investigation” where pertinent information arose that threatened to place either the White House or the military in a bind data was either omitted, changed or worded in an intentionally misleading way to deceive the public and impugn the truth.

I’ll post an excerpt from David Ray Griffin’s book later which goes in to much greater detail about the flagrant deceit exposed in this particular area of Mineta and Cheney in the bunker.

Is there any lie that the people won’t believe? Is there any limit to how much bull crap they’re willing to swallow before finally realizing they’ve been lied to? I mean for God’s sake, how much more information needs to be revealed before people can begin to see the light? It’s such a damn shame. It’s so painfully obvious now. You’d have to be blind not to see it. And yet the dumbed-down populace never ceases to amaze me with their naivety and ignorance. How anyone can speak about the official version of 9/11 at this point with a straight face is beyond comprehension to me. To be honest, I bet Cheney could openly confess and admit guilt for conspiring to this plot and apologists would simply defend him by saying that he misspoke. That’s just how bad it has gotten.

No wonder the government is so confident in itself. It has molded its servants in to being the most perfect and obedient of subjects. Large numbers of brainless clones still believe that Saddam ordered the 9/11 attacks. I just sit here in disgust. They can’t even get the facts right involving the worst tragedy to occur on American soil since Pearl Harbor. But I bet they can tell you almost verbatim every painstaking detail of Paris Hilton’s stint in jail. And yes, I blame the media for continually force-feeding us this tabloid filth. But I also blame the schools of hypnotized television viewers out there who create the demand for this kind of vapid nonsense by driving up the ratings with undeserved intrigue. Too stupid to even express a mild interest in the peculiar bubbling water surrounding around them that’s soon going to boil them like an egg. So easily distracted and to the point of their own demise.

The American people (and their cherished freedoms) have become the proverbial unwitting frog dying in slow-motion in the pot of slowly boiling water. Well not all of us…

I wonder whether Cheney has some compromised naked pictures of various Washington officials, for him to keep getting away with everything he does. The Mineta testimony and the NORAD non-scrambling are two of the most damaging pieces of evidence, and yet they are ignored.

You speak of the public being asleep. As I said in another thread, Thetaloops and I convinced a former VP of a major corporation that 9/11 was a sham. The Mineta testimony was the straw. So people are waking up, and yet, look at all of these "libertarians" that are following Bush's, Coulter's, Limbaugh's, Exxon/Mobil's, lead on Global Warming denial. It seems that being asleep is like a virus. It moves from one person, in fact, one idea to another, and infects the person or idea. More and more people think that JFK was not murdered by Oswald, and yet there will be a small minority that still believes the Warren Report. The same thing is happening to 9/11 and Global Warming. In the long run, we will always have a crackpot minority that believes pigs live in trees, 19 Arabs hijacked planes, and CO2 has nothing to do with Global Warming. No matter how much evidence you throw at them, their political and emotional blockades will prevent them form seeing the truth. But, we keep trying.

We have a neighbor who recently moved here from Texas that says he hates Bush but yet watches Fox all day and talks about bombing the Muslims back in to the stone ages. I’ve offered to let him watch Loose Change but he seems resistant to the idea. His mind is already made up. I’m sure that Fox has helped him to reach that conclusion prematurely. I don’t feel like pushing the issue. If only I had a dollar for every time that I heard someone say, “ahh, I don’t believe it”, or “that’s too far-fetched’ only to change their minds completely after being educated to the reality.

Years and years of social programming by means of television, history books and other forms of inculcation can really take their toll. The process of deprogramming can be a long an arduous one requiring a mental metamorphosis of sorts. 9/11 truthers have already made that transformation. Now we need to ignite this new paradigm shift in order to reach a critical mass of awareness. Once that’s achieved, the powers that be will have failed. They see that fateful day coming soon and they're growing more and more restless with every passing day. I’m glad to know that I’m contributing to their loss of sleep. Instinctively they know that their hour glass is emptying. They’re most dangerous right now with desperation. They’re also most vulnerable. We’ll surely tip the balance in our favor.

Well, KNOWTHIS, we on this board can be proud that we knew from the minute the planes hit the towers, something was amiss. When I heard that senator on TV, in between towers falling, saying "Bin Laden", I also knew it was a scam. Also, is not the USA supposed to be a land of laws? Why was not Bin Laden captured and tried? This is the new paradigm. Pre-emptive and Pre-Cognitive trial and execution, as well as entrapment and setup. You see it in the drug wars, out Dateline Catch a Predator, and the war in Iraq.

...To illustrate how crucial such exclusions could be and also why the Zelikow led 9/11 Commission cannot be assumed to be above deceit, we can look at a portion of Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta's testimony at the Commission's hearing on May 23, 2003. Mineta testified that on the morning of 9/11, after arriving at the White House and stopping to see Richard Clarke (the national coordinator for security and counterterrorism), he went down to the Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) under the White House, where Vice President Cheney was in charge. Mineta then told Vice Chair Lee Hamilton:

During the time that the airplane was coming in to the Pentagon, there was a young man who would come in and say to the Vice President, "The plane is 50 miles out." "The plane is 30 miles out." And when it got down to "the plane is 10 miles out," the young man also said to the Vice President, "Do the orders still stand?" And the Vice President turned and whipped his neck around and said, "Of course the orders still stand. Have you hear? anything to the contrary?"


When Mineta was asked by Commissioner Timothy Roemer how long this conversation occurred after he arrived, Mineta said: "Probably about five or six minutes," which, as Roemer pointed out, would mean "about 9:25 or 9:26."
This story was very threatening to the account that would be provided in The 9/11 Commission Report. According to that account, Cheney did not even enter the PEOC until almost 10:00, "perhaps at 9:58." According to Mineta's testimony, however, Cheney had arrived some time prior to 9:20. Mineta's time is consistent, moreover, with many other reports about Cheney's descent to the PEOC.
Perhaps most amazingly, the Zelikow-led Commission even contradicted Cheney's own account. Speaking on NBC's Meet the Press five days after 9/11, Cheney said: "After I talked to the president, . . . I went down into. . . the Presidential Emergency Operations Center. . . . When I arrived there within a short order, we had word the Pentagon's been hit." In an interview for a CNN story a year later, Cheney repeated that he was in the PEOC before word about the Pentagon strike, which reportedly occurred at about 9:38, was received.
The fact that Cheney had gone down to the PEOC shortly after the second strike on the World Trade Center was also confirmed by National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice. On an ABC News television program one year after 9/11, based on interviews by Peter Jennings, Rice said: "The Secret Service came and said, 'you have to leave now for the bunker. The Vice President's already there. There may be a plane headed for the White House. There are a lot of planes that are in the air that are not responding properly,'" after which Charlie Gibson said: "In the bunker, the Vice President is joined by Rice and Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta."
The Commission's time of 9:58 is clearly false and cannot be considered anything other than an outright lie. This illustration by itself shows that nothing the Commission says can be accepted on faith.
An even more important feature of Mineta's testimony, moreover, is that it is in strong tension with the Commission's claim that the military did not know that an aircraft was approaching the Pentagon until 9:36, so that it "had at most one or two minutes to react to the unidentified plane approaching Washington. "20 According to Mineta's account, however, the vice president knew at least ten minutes earlier, by 9:26. Are we to believe that although Cheney knew, the military did not?
Worse yet, Mineta's account could be read as eyewitness testimony to the confirmation of a stand-down order. Mineta himself, to be sure, did

not make this allegation. He assumed, he said, that "the orders" mentioned by the young man were orders to have the plane shot down. Mineta's interpretation, however, does not fit with what actually happened, because the aircraft was not shot down. Mineta's interpretation, moreover, would make the story unintelligible: If the orders had been to shoot down the aircraft if it entered the forbidden air space over Washington, the young man would have had no reason to ask if the orders still stood. His question made sense only if the orders were to do something unexpected - not to shoot it down.
How did The 9/11 Commission Report deal with Mineta's testimony? By simply omitting it from the final report. One can understand such an omission, of course, if the purpose of the Zelikow-led Commission was to protect the Bush administration's account/of 9/11. This omission is not, however, consistent with the Commission's purpose as stated by Kean and Hamilton, namely, "to provide the fullest possible account of the events surrounding 9/11. "
This omission of Mineta's testimony, as serious as it is, might not be fatal to our overall judgment about The 9/11 Commission Report's reliability if it were an isolated example. As I have shown in a book-length critique however, this omission is simply one example of a systematic pattern, in which all available evidence that contradicts the official story systematically omitted or, in some cases, distorted....
