We have a friend named Betty who lives in a small house by a river here in TN. She has foster kids who live with her until they can find a suitable home. She has a number of cats that she feeds. She also cares for the numerous strays in the area. Two of our cats came from her. Anyway, this new maniac of a neighbor recently moved in and began shooting these cats. This idiot even tried to perform a citizen's arrest on someone for allegedly speeding. Yesterday morning he went over to Betty's home and demanded that the kids leave the room. He began berating her and she was terrified. The kids said that this man was real nasty. Betty called the police and they told her that she had to have them put to sleep. She explained that they weren't even her cats and the cop told her not to get mouthy with him. Betty tried calling PETA and the humane society and they wouldn't touch it. Now my dad's going over today to try and help her catch the cats with a non-harming trap. My dad said that he might get arrested because if this guy starts any shit, he's going to squash it. We'll see what happens. It's clear that this good ole' boy has it in with the local police. They're probably related. What it comes down to is that this crazy neighbor wants to buy Betty's property. It appears that he's trying to chase her out of the area. What a fucked up situation.

As it turns out, this deranged neighbor is in cahoots with the local police in her area. However, our neighbor Jan is good friends with the police in our area. Jan once went and petitioned for better pay for the police force. He didn't even know any of them personally at the time. This officer (The 'good cop' I'll call him)) told Jan that if he ever needed anything, to just call him. He's going to talk to Betty about this and he plans on confronting the neighbor as well. The good cop said that he doesn't care who this guy knows in the force, even if it's the governor. He said that if he's doing something illegal, it doesn't matter to him. It could be a cop vs. cop scenario.
I talked to Betty just now as well. I wanted to know what PETA and the humane society told her. They said that once you feed them, they become your liability. I guess that means that we own quite a few birds and squirrels now with all of our bird feeders. It's ridiculous.
