Hi everyone,my life has been so hectic,I had gone back to work helping my brother and sister in law with their restaurant. My tabby cat (the rescued one) got his foot in a raccoons mouth, got infected and had to go to the vet, antibiotics and all. He has been better for the last 3 days, but yesterday my baby my dog,my ODIE was hit by a dump truck and killed. He was a terrier Chihuahua, and looked like a dwarf German Shepard,a real cutie. My heart is broken and my husbands heart as well. The one sad side affect of his passing is the tabby and his brother loved him like he was their mom. They are confused and wondering where their ODIE dog is. Whoever hit him did so within about 5 minutes and just left him,he was only 50 feet from our house and no one even came out to try to find his family was,I went out to get him in because every so often he will run out the door fast when opened and get a fun run done,(I say) he visits his neighbor dog friend ,a big white husky. I have been on and reading. I hope my life gets settled soon so I can come back on and spend more time. Thanks to those who have cared so much to private message me to see how I was doing I am trying to load a picture of my baby pup,I hope it is viewable, chicky (Clare)

Hi Chick, So sorry to hear that....I know how much beloved animals mean to us, and Odie looked like a real cutie. Hit and run drivers are becoming a real epidemic, and I can't understand how people can leave animals or humans suffering or dead. Anyway, Sorry we missed your birthday as I have been busy with a new job in New York, but glad to see you back.

Hi Chicky,
I feel so bad also about you loosing your sweety. There are no words that can express such a loss. We have to find the meaning in it some how, like how your other pets are showing there concern. It just shows how when a creature/person has feelings things go very deep and we just can't help it and this is a good thing. I think it is better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all, as we say.
I'm happy that you are back on line. I'm always struggling to keep in touch. I will try to be around more often.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Love,
Theta

Sorry about your baby.We recently put down our Walker hound mix,one of the toughest dogs I have ever seen, and shortie, our 110# overweight white shepard/lab mix.He was built for comfort not for speed. My mom told me that once the dog has passed on,the surviving dogs shoud get a chance to say good-bye.A dog wake if you will.Otherwise the dogs keep looking for the deceased dog and wonder when they will be coming home. It's true.My Vet friend came to the house with his assistant to send Shortie off on his next journey, pet cemetary in the back yard.My wife didn't want to be there,I stayed to comforted him and pet him and told him what a great dog he is and was right to the end.I left Shortie on his blanket and brought my 6 year old female pit bull to check out the situation.J.J. sniffed Shortie and checked him out.Done deal. My son-in-law came right over to help lower Shortie into his grave next to his pal Missy, who passed 7 months earlier. My wife comes back along with Shortie's roomate of 6 months Joe the brindle pitbull male.Joe looked all over for Shortie and was visibly confused. From that day on Joe slept on Shortie's blanket in the walk-in closet when left home alone. It's like losing a child. Both have unconditional love .

Thanks everyone, starting to feel better,it is hard at work,as people come through with their pets and I hand a doggy treat to them. One of my older cats Striper, found a toy that belonged to Odie, and he rolled around all over it and smelled it,snatched it up tight in his claw against him, rolled in a ball and passed out asleep with it still attached in his claws. Sad baby,it broke my heart. Well. I sure appreciate all the caring words, they really help. Chicky
