Swamp, This exact point has bothered me from the time that the hijacking happened. What was the big delay? And why haven't we heard about this in the news and at the 9-11 commission questioning, more than we have. Rumpsmell is the one who would have had to give the order to send up the jets. He must have been stuck in the bathroom constipated. And no one else knew what to do. Is this a conspiracy theory?

Theta,
The best one yet was from Maverick's crew.
They said Norad is a confusing place, and with all the activity around 9/11, they didn't send up the jets in time.
Did they mean everyone was sitting around watching the Morning News, and were so hypnotized by the 4 hijackings, they forgot to scramble.
I don't think Mav's boys knew that Rumpsmell was designated to give the command, and if not him, second in command.
this was the update, made ironcially in August 2001, which took the power out of field commanders, and put it in the defense secretary's command.
