Ode to the Dandelion By the kat
the Dandelion is such a hardy fellow so predictable and noticeably yellow
as spring ends he pops his sleepy head off goes his green cap awake from his nap
upon first arrival he’s such a welcome sight soon come his relatives they become a plight
with a face like the sun and neck like a reed in truth he’s really not a flower only a weed
the hum of the mower now starts my summer that sound to him must be such a bummer
my deed for this weed now infesting my grass it’s off with his head with a rotary dread

Welcome to Gastronamus Kat. You're in good company
Yes, the Dandelion, for cleansing all those toxic livers, and one of the highest sources of Vitamin A
We use it everyday, and do all 19 of our birds.

I like the contrast on your message board here, it doesn't blast my eyeballs. I hear the Dandelion's leaves make a mighty fine salad, ever try them? How do you prepare Dandelions? Nineteen birds must keep yeah busy, I have hard time looking after houseplants. LOL. I'm from Superior, Wisconsin. An imported cheesehead. I've lived everywhere from Plattsburge, NY to Adak, AL and quite a few places inbetween. Wyoming, Seattle, WA and Idaho. Born in Spokan, WA. I have two sons 22 & 23 who live with me. There my pride and joy. I'm in the middle of making breakfast so I'll get back later. Gotta go now.

Yah, the Dandelion greens are pleasantly bitter, Raw. The Birds tear them up, as well as lentil sprouts, wheatgrass, broccoli sprouts, apples, celery, and their pellet/herb/seed combo. Very healthy...The youngest is 8, the oldest near 20. Here's one of many pictures. 9 of them here. Thetaloops and I have lived in Detroit, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and New Jersey. We were born in Jersey City and Newark. City folk. Still live in JC.

Now what strain of birds are those? Our local feed store here used to have several birds that had free reign of the store. One was a very large gray parrot, quite friendly as I found out one day picking up some garden supplies the bird landed on my parka hood which the bird was very fond of for he did not want to leave the perch of my shoulders walking back and forth along the hood of the parka from one shoulder to the other talking to me the whole while. The parrot was nearly a foot tall as remember. It was always a wonderful place to bring my boys when they where younger.
