Rush is one of my top favorite 3 piece rock bands. But they play progressivee music as far as i'm concerned. They just released on DVD their fabulous Rio De Janerio Concert. What amazes me is the fact that this group has been together so long and yet the singers voice is still strong, and Neil Peart the drummer is one of THE BEST drummers in the world. In a pop music world of briney spears and no talent rock stars....Rush blows them all away. Great music!

We saw Rush open for Hawkwind in Detroit in 1974. Rush was unknown, but it was an incredible concert.
I remember Lee, the bass player, playing keys, and bass pedals at the same time, and singing with his incredibly high voice, all at the same time.
Yes, the drummer has four hands and six feet, as we say in the business.
Wasn't called progressive rock yet. It was called "Art Rock" or "Space Rock" in those days.

I saw RUSH around in '83. Having never seen them before, we we shocked to find out that there was only 3 guys in the band. They put the music out as strong or stronger than most 5 member groups. It was at the time, the best concert I had ever been to.

Hey swamp when you saw Rush was Neil Peart in the band yet? Their first drummer John Rutsy was a pretty decent drummer but he was only on their first record,. Maybe they got rid of him for drugs use or something.

No, Peart was not in the band yet, as the 1st album was just out. The drummer that they had was still pretty good though.
