Hundreds of dead dolphins wash ashore in Zanzibar

At least 300 dead dolphins washed ashore on a beach in Zanzibar overnight, residents said on Friday, but the cause of the deaths was unknown.

An official with the Zanzibar Fisheries Department and Marine Products, Sihaba Haji, said the islands had not witnessed the death of such a large number of dolphins.

"I can confirm the deaths of dolphins but we need time to research to establish the cause of the deaths," he said.

A resident said the dead dolphins were on a stretch of beach called Kendwa and Mkokotoni, in the north of Zanzibar that is populated by several tourist hotels.

Another resident said he first saw the dolphins on Thursday.

"We started noticing them last night. All are adult dolphins. We could do nothing but photograph them," said a hotel owner who preferred not to be named.

Nariman Jidawi, a researcher at Zanzibar-based Institute of Marine Science at the University of Dar es Salaam, cited several possible reasons that could have led to the dolphins dying.

"We suspect oil pollution, eating red seaweed or simply being left behind when the tide recedes," Jidawi said.

She said the dead dolphins were Indian Ocean Bottlenose. The Indian Ocean is a migratory path and home for several species, including the Indo-Pacific hump-backed dolphin.

A Reuters witness said Zanzibar residents were seen taking dolphin meat home.

But Haji warned residents against eating the dolphins, since the cause of their deaths was unknown.

Visitors to the Indian Ocean Island often enjoy dolphin tours and scuba diving.

Yes, like the dogs running away from the Epicenter in the 1989 and 1906 San Francisco Earthquakes, Flocks of birds freezing in their swooping motions, our birds flipping all night before 9/11, cockroaches spinning in circles before an earthquake, cats and dogs moaning before a local death, KNOW-THIS and Theta's parent's dogs dying, a friend just tried to commit suicide twice in the last two months, and all of our premonitions.

Something bigger and nastier than 9/11 is coming, and I generally am a optimist.

The culture and in particular US culture has devolved about as far as it can go. But then again, you remember back in 1969 or thereabouts when we were looking at the state of things with Nixon/Agnew/Vietnam, and people were saying, "how much worse can it get", and we always said, "It can happen". There has always been this pull between the people and power, Hippies vs Establishment, Squares vs The Beats, and the Destructive and the Constructive. It is really the battle of Logic and Compassions vs Irrationality and Sadism.

One thing most people don't understand...is the fact that the highest elite WAN'T Chaos, disorder and even a planet with toxicity and above all...LOWER VIBRATION. They can't STAND the higher vibrations.

I belive this is the TRUE reason why the environment is so F*ked up.

There is this rooster pal of mine pretty much unclaimed he wanders between a few houses on our street,(mostly mine)
Of course I set water out ect for him.I dont mind at all ecept when he eats the flowers off right before they bloom.
Anyways the other evening the wind kicked up,not an unusal thing in itself,we were inside and I swore I thought that my neighbor was calling me it sounded just like my name every so often,but this rooster was going NUTS I mean not the regular crowing sound,when I first relized it was not my neighbor calling me outside I went out to have a look because I though something terrible had happened to him,but he was just like a statue he was perfectly still frozen like and making this noise.
Normally if I say "Roosty"(yes,I am a sucker and he now has a pet name) he will stop and come towrds me to see me but he wouldn't.This rooster was FREAKED OUT!!!
They other birds on the other hand were not making a peep.We live on a city street that is really like being in the country,it is like an estuary here this street has the most park like acreage and it is beautiful,so there are a lot of birds.
I know if I am going to get any spiritual input I am sure it will be from a bird as I have had quite a few experiences with the fowl family.
So I was taken back by this and always stay aware when a bird acts at all strange
