Refrigerator duck plays Lazarus again Bird that lived 2 days in fridge after being shot flat-lines in surgery, revives YEAH ONE FOR THE DUCK ZERO FOR THE HUNTER. Updated: 4:36 a.m. ET Jan 29, 2007 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Call her Lazarus — and then some. The ring-neck duck has been shot by a hunter, rescued from two days in a refrigerator by his wife and — in its latest brush with death — resuscitated on a veterinarian's operating table. The one-pound female duck stopped breathing Saturday during an operation to repair gunshot damage to her wing, said Noni Beck of Goose Creek Wildlife Sanctuary. Veterinarian David Hale performed CPR and managed to get the fractured fowl breathing again after several tense moments. "I started crying, 'She's alive!'" Beck said. Perky grabbed national attention last week after a hunter's wife opened her refrigerator door and the supposedly dead duck lifted its head and looked at her. The duck had been in the fridge for two days since it was shot and mistaken for dead on Jan. 15. Perky, who now has a pin in hers wing, will probably not undergo any more surgery because of a sensitivity to anesthesia, Hale said. The duck is recovering from its latest ordeal. © 2007 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.

I heard about this on Howard Stern. They discussed the strange psychology of the human mind involved in this story. At what point in a person’s mind does an animal go from being dinner to being a pet? After spending two days in a refrigerator? It’s bizarre.
Stern and his new girlfriend have become very animals rights oriented. I’ve heard Howard talk about possibly becoming vegetarian and how it disturbs him to sit near an aquarium filled with fish in restaurant if that is what he’s eating. He also recently used some air time to encourage listeners to adopt a dog (named David) in need. He won’t buy certain products if he knows that they’re made of animals hides.
A lot of people hate Howard but he’s really been taking a stand for the animals lately.

Howard is really not a bad guy. He upsets the Squares, and that's enough for me.
What a lot of people don't understand is that animals are actually humans trapped in a non-human body. Cats, dogs, birds, and others exhibit very human characteristics.
This story reminds me of when that guy shot the deer, thought it was dead, but it wasn't, and it actually caused a gun to kill the hunter when it tried to escape.

He also hates the war more than ever and speaks out against it all of the time. He has a major problem with the religious right and their gay bashing as well. Howard tore Cheney up over this ordeal this morning. Howard said that hypocrites like Cheney have no problems at all promoting legislation that adversely effects ‘other’ people’s personal lives but when it hits too close to home then suddenly it becomes “out of bounds”. He explained that the question wasn’t at all out of line and in fact it was the perfect question to ask Cheney. Howard finished by stating that the only reason he didn’t want to answer the question is because he was afraid of losing the support of the maniac, religious right nuts. www.advocate.com/news_detail_ektid41402.aspCheney refuses to discuss lesbian daughter on CNN
